SOPA Traffic and Events Counter Terrorism Exercise at SOPA
The NSW Police Force, in conjunction with a range of emergency services organisations, will be conducting a national counter terrorism exercise at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 June 2011.
Residents and businesses around the area might experience increased activities by police and emergency services from Sunday (12 June) to the early hours of Monday (13 June), however minimal disruption is expected. State of Origin
State of Origin II will be held at Sydney Olympic Park on Wednesday 15 June 2011 and is expected to draw large crowds and bring increased traffic into the Park, particularly before the start of the game. SOPA has some advice for local residents planning to attend the game.
Increased traffic is expected around the Novotel and Pullman hotels and along Herb Elliott Avenue, due to the large number of workers leaving the Park at the same time as event patrons are arriving. SOPA recommends Jacaranda Square as the best place to drop off passengers and avoid traffic delays. Download this map to show the location and best way to access the Park if you are being dropped off by car.
You are also able to take advantage of the 'Taste of Origin' and visit the restaurants along Dawn Fraser Avenue before the big game. Details can be found on the SOPA website.
