Road closures - V8 Supercars Week 1
V8 SUPERCARS MOTOR RACE WORKS ALERT
AUSTRALIA AVENUE CLOSED 18 – 23 October 2010
Australia Avenue will be closed between Murray Rose Avenue and Kevin Coombs Avenue. A one way system (northbound) will operate on Friday (22 October) evening between 16:00 and 19:00. Following 19:00 it will return to a full closure.
Entry to back portion of the P6 Car Park will still be possible from the usual access route off Barnes Rd.
During this period, exit from the P6 Car Park will be limited to the bidirectional boom gate at the current entry point.
WEEK ONE 18 – 24 OCTOBER 2010
Works associated with the temporary overlay for the Sydney Telstra 500 will commence on Monday 18 October. The works will include the construction of grandstands and Pitt Lane in Australia Avenue, as well as the placement of temporary concrete barriers and safety fencing.

Throughout the V8 Bump-in, P6A Car Park (next to the Brick Pit Ring) and the front portion (ie: closest to Australia Ave) of P6 Car Park will be closed.

Entry to the remaining back portion of the P6 Car Park will still be possible from the usual access route off Barnes Rd.

During this period, exit from the P6 Car Park will be limited to the bi-directional boom gate at the current entry point.

Pedestrian access to Australia Ave will be provided via a fenced off, corridor leading up to the lime-green coloured Pay Station.

As there will be a great deal of construction and activity on Australia Ave over coming weeks, pedestrians are encouraged to use the footbridge provided across Australia Ave, at Jacaranda Square.

On Tuesday 19 October, Pedestrian Bridge 4a will be constructed across Dawn Fraser Avenue at Olympic Boulevard. Minor traffic diversions will be in place during this process to ensure a speedy construction.
WEEK TWO 25 – 31 OCTOBER 2010
Works will continue along Australia Avenue, however, it will re-open for vehicle use. Traffic management will be in place between Herb Elliott Avenue and Grand Parade allowing the traffic to be contra flowed on the eastern carriage way.
New works will see:

Concrete Barriers in the Holker Bus way

Concrete barriers being placed along Kevin Coombes Avenue and Edwin Flack Avenue; and

Grandstands being constructed along Dawn Fraser Avenue

During the each week, there may be the need for additional traffic diversions to be in place throughout the precinct. At all times traffic management wardens will be in place to ensure the smooth passage of traffic.
