Road closures - V8 Supercars Week 2

WEEK TWO 25 – 31 OCTOBER 2010

Works will continue along Australia Avenue, however, it will re-open for vehicle use.
Traffic management will be in place between Herb Elliott Avenue and Grand Parade allowing the traffic to be contra flowed on the eastern carriage way.

New works will see:
  • Concrete Barriers in the Holker Bus way;
  • Concrete barriers being placed along Kevin Coombes Avenue and Edwin Flack
  • Avenue;
  • Grandstands being constructed along Dawn Fraser Avenue; and
  • Over track sign on Kevin Coombs
Throughout the V8 Bump-in, P6A Car Park (next to the Brick Pit Ring) and the front portion (ie: closest to Australia Ave) of P6 Car Park will be closed.

Entry to the remaining back portion of the P6 Car Park will still be possible from the usual access route off Barnes Rd. During this period, exit from the P6 Car Park will be limited to the bi-directional boom gate at the current entry point.

Pedestrian access to Australia Ave will be provided via a fenced off, corridor leading up to the lime-green coloured Pay Station. As there will be a great deal of construction and activity on Australia Ave over coming weeks, pedestrians are encouraged to use the footbridge provided across Australia Ave, at Jacaranda Square once opened.

WEEK THREE 1 – 6 NOVEMBER 2010

On Monday 1 November, Pedestrian Bridges 5&6 will be constructed across Showground Road outside the rail station. Minor traffic diversions will be in place on 1 November and a full road closure on 2 November to ensure a speedy construction.

New Works will see:
  • Concrete barriers being placed along Edwin Flack Avenue;
  • Concrete barriers in Bus Pod B (Edwin Flack Avenue);
  • Grandstands and corporate structures being constructed in Australia Avenue, Kevin Coombs Avenue and Edwin Flack Avenue.
During the each week, there may be the need for additional traffic diversions to be in place throughout the precinct. At all times traffic management wardens will be in place to ensure the smooth passage of traffic.

Please call Chris Bastic, Homebush Motor Racing Authority General Manager Stakeholder Relations, on 0418 771 552 should you have any enquires on the temporary overlay works or other matters associated with the Sydney Telstra 500 V8 Supercars motor race.
